Create action

Anaction is a series of commands that you play back on a single file or a batch of files.
For example, you can create an action that applies an Image Size command to change an image to a specific size in pixels, followed by an Unsharp Mask filter that resharpens the detail, and a Save command that saves the file in the desired format.
Most commands and tool operations are recordable in actions. Actions can include stops that let you perform tasks that cannot be recorded (for example, using a painting tool).
Actions can also include modal controls that let you enter values in a dialog box while playing an action.

To use the Actions palette
You use the Actions palette to record, play, edit, and delete individual actions. This palette also lets you save and load action files.

To display the Actions palette, choose Window > Actions.
To expand and collapse sets, actions, and commands, click the triangle to the left of the set, action, or command in the Actions palette. Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac OS) the triangle to expand or collapse all actions in a set or all commands in an action.
To display actions as buttons (Photoshop), choose Button Mode from the Actions palette menu. Choose Button Mode again to return to list mode. You can’t view individual commands or sets in Button mode.
To select actions in the Action palette, click an action name. In Photoshop, Shift-click action names to select multiple, contiguous actions and Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) action names to select multiple, discontiguous actions.

2.GIMP Software

GIMP has a huge set of retouching tools that will allow you to perform advanced image retouching and manipulation. The GIMP outputs your work in many common formats like JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, and even PSD (Photoshop’s native file format).
GIMP is a popular open-source image editor. Often lauded as the "free Photoshop," it has an interface and features similar to Photoshop. Image Manipulation Program. It is free software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and authoring.






3.Fireworks 

Fireworks is also a similar software as Photoshop.    It excels in several areas over its big brother Photoshop, namely in high-fidelity prototyping of sites and a workspace environment that’s optimized for web designers. It is also a raster and vector hybrid, being able to work with raster-based images and vector-based graphics better and more symbiotically than Photoshop.





 4.Inkscape

Inkscape 0.48 now has a preference that allows users to take advantage of multi-threading for the Gaussian Blur filter. This filter makes one of the biggest impacts on Inkscape's performance when in use. Mariana Sing uses blur throughout this image for subtle details, smooth color transitions, and numerous effects. Thankfully the blur operation is now faster than before when using a multi-core or multi-processor computer.




 5.Pixelmator

Pixelmator 1.6.4 is first in the world to add a new JPEG compression/decompression engine, called the libjpeg-turbo. JPEG Turbo, as we named it, brings 2x faster JPEG compression via Pixelmator’s Export for Web feature. Remember, Pixelmator has a real-time preview for optimizing images or slices for the Web, so JPEG Turbo makes that preview even more instant.

Fujiflm-F300EXRWe almost lost count on how many camerasFujifilm has brought to Indian market and today, Fujifilm launches the FinePix F300 EXR compact zoom camera to India. This compact zoom is among the few compact zoom cameras in the market which has more than 10x optical zoom. Fujifilm features its Super CCD EXR sensor for capturing outstanding quality pictures. There are new features like motion panaroma mode which captures images while the camera shutter button is pressed down and is being swept much like sweep panorama on Sony compact cameras.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended

 

Photoshop turned twenty years old this year. That may seem like nothin' but a number, but when you look at the Mac platforms it's migrated to and from, and the fact that it's had 12 versions, Photoshop's twenty years have seen a lot of changes for one application. From System 6 on the Motorola 68000, it was then ported to PowerPC, then to OS X, then to OS X Intel, and now to Cocoa and 64-bit. All this while adding the features that make it the meaty image editor it is today. One look at the laundry list of major additions in CS5 makes it clear that Adobe isn't anywhere near done with the product. The new feature list is unrelenting:
  • Wet media brushes
  • Content-aware fill and heal tools
  • Improved masking/chroma keying
  • Camera RAW 6
  • Puppet Warp
  • Mini Bridge
  • Data-based lens distortion correction with custom lens profiling application
  • Local adaptation tone-mapping

Of course, all of these features also appear in the Windows version, which has had 32- and 64-bit flavors since version CS4. Let's not forget that Windows 7 just came out as well, so Adobe's had its work cut out for it with this latest installment. I've been working with the betas and the release for a while now, so let's see how it all worked out.

        Eastman Kodak which is generally known as Kodak is an American Multinational company engaged in making imaging and photographic materials and equipments and is presently focusing on digital photography and digital printing. Kodak C 195 is the latest constituent in the new gadgets revealed by the company which comes under the range of $ 100 and is said to have many awesome features which are requisite in daily life as well which will be helpful managing many social networking connections.
     The new camera comes with 1405 Mega Pixels with 14 megapixels as effective range, having 5X Optical and 5X Advanced digital zoom features. The lens is collected of 33-165 mm which is same to 35nm, and is provided with the built in lens cover for safety of the lens which has shutter speed of ¼-1/1400 per second. Photoshop Toolbox

The toolbox contains 28 icons and around 60 tools, and it can seem bewildering if you're not used to it. Never fear — it all starts to make sense once you get to know your way around the various tools, and understand how they're grouped together.

This tutorial gets you up to speed with the Photoshop toolbox, and each of the tools it contains. By the time you've finished reading it, you'll be well on your way to working proficiently with the Photoshop toolbox, and you'll have a good general understanding of all the tools in Photoshop too.















The toolbox

The screenshot below shows the toolbox in Photoshop CS3. (Other versions may differ slightly, but the basic tool layout is the same across all versions.)
  • Click a tool icon or name in the image below to find out more about that tool.
  • Most of the tool icons actually represent a group of related tools. A little black triangle in the bottom right corner of an icon signifies a tool group. When you click a tool group's icon in the image below, you can read descriptions of all the tools in the group.
  • All tools have shortcut keys so you can select them quickly. You can see the shortcut key for a tool by hovering the mouse over it in the image below. (This also works in the toolbox in Photoshop itself.) I've also included the shortcut keys in the headings for each tool — or tool group — description.
  • To quickly cycle through the tools in a tool group, hold down Shift while pressing the shortcut key.

The following sections give you a brief description of each of the tools in the Photoshop toolbox. Some of the descriptions include links to other articles where you can find out more about the 
tools.
 

Marquee (M)

The Marquee tools let you make simple selections in the shape of rectangles, ellipses, or single-pixel rows and columns.
The Marquee tools are:

Rectangular Marquee

Click in the image and drag to select a rectangular area. Shift-drag to select a square area.

Elliptical Marquee

Click in the image and drag to select an elliptical area. Shift-drag to select a circular area.

Single Row Marquee

Click in the image to select a single row of pixels. Drag to select a different row.

Single Column Marquee

Click in the image to select a single column of pixels. Drag to select a different column.

Move (V)

The Move tool lets you click and drag a layer to move it around the document. Shift-drag to lock movement to 45-degree angles. Alt/Option-drag to make a copy of the layer and position the copy.
You can also move a layer in 1-pixel steps with the keyboard arrow keys. Hold Shift to move in 10-pixel steps.

Lasso (L)

The Lasso tools let you make irregularly-shaped selections by drawing in the document window.

Lasso

This tool lets you make freeform selections. Click in the image and drag to select an area. Release the mouse button to complete the selection.

Polygonal Lasso

This tool lets you make polygonal selections. Click in the image to add a new point to the polygon. To complete the selection, double-click or Control/Command-click with the mouse, or click the first point.
You can hold down Alt/Option and drag to use the regular Lasso tool temporarily.

Magnetic Lasso

This tool snaps the selection border to hard edges in the image as you draw. This makes it easy to select objects in the image that have complex, high-contrast edges.
Click in the image to add the first point. Move the mouse around the edge of the object to select it. Click to add further fastening points if required. To complete the selection, double-click or Control/Command-click with the mouse, or click the first point.
Use the Feather, Width, Contrast and Frequency tool options in the options bar to fine-tune the tool's behaviour.
You can hold down Alt/Option and drag to use the regular Lasso tool temporarily, or Alt/Option-click to use the Polygonal Lasso tool temporarily.

New Sony A850 and A900

The Sony A850 and A900 are full frame cameras that pack in 24.6-megapixels on that big sensor.  The cameras appear at the top-end of the Alpha system line up.  At first blush, the A850 appears almost identical to the pricier Sony A900.  After delving deeper into the A850, you’ll discover that there’s really not a whole lot of difference between it and the A900.
Because of the similarities between these two cameras and the fact that I reviewed them simultaneous, I decided to publish one review for both cameras rather than than two separate reviews with only minor changes in the text.

Sony A850 and A900 Key Differences
The differences between the A850 and A900 are so minor that it seems hard to justify the purchase of an A900 over the A850, given the $700 price discrepancy.  The A850′s frame rate covers 3 fps, compared to 5 fps on the A900.  Additionally, the A850 viewfinder coverage is 98% of the frame, compared to 100% coverage from the A900.  Finally, the A900 includes a wireless remote, which is an excellent option; however, those who opt for the A850 can take some of that $700 they save to purchase the same remote for $30.

Auto-focus
The A850 and A900 have a great auto-focus system inside.  You get 9 AF points, which can be selected by the user.  The center AF point is center dual cross type for extra sensitivity.  There are also 10 assist AF points.
The focus speed is quick and accurate on both cameras – even in low light.  If you’ve read Photography Bay for a while, then you know that I like to use a single focus point, selecting individual points as necessary depending on the composition.  Adjusting focus points is straightforward and easy with the joystick.  As noted earlier though, if you like to change focus areas (e.g., Wide AF area, Spot AF area, etc.), then you’ll have to jump back to the quick menu.
My main gripe with the AF system is frame coverage.  Nothing in this class of cameras stacks up to the frame coverage on the Nikon D700.  While I’ll equate the speed of the AF system of the Sony cameras to the D700, the frame coverage and focus point options just don’t stack up for the A850 and A900.  As a result, I end up with a lot of “focus and recompose” shooting.

Image Quality

With 24.6-megapixel, the A850 and A900 deliver in the resolution department.  Files from the Alpha cameras are 6048 x 4032 pixels in size.  With resolution like that, you can take advantage of the cropping space.
The color reproduction is solid straight out of the camera.  I really like the results from the A850 and A900 – in good light.
In lower light, if you bump the ISO speed, then you can get in trouble pretty quick.  The 5D Mark II and D700 easily have a stop or two advantage over the A900 and A850.  Shooting over ISO 1600 would be ill-advised for the Sony DSLRs.

Adobe launch - Photoshop Touch to the iPad

Adobe Illustrator Communicate is a great, free and extremely useful iOS app for easily restoring up your electronic images, but it pales in evaluation to the pc edition of Illustrator. Last year Adobe presented a solution: Illustrator Touching, but decided to bring it to the Operating system Product market first. Now, as guaranteed, Adobe is lastly providing that extremely effective picture modifying functionality to Apple‘s iPad 2. The company will mention the new app these days in Spain's capital at Cellular World Congress

Users will also be able to touch up photos, paint over them and create new layouts. The new app is part of Adobe’s upcoming suite of iPad “Touch” Apps. “Inspired by Adobe’s Creative Suite,” the apps include:
Adobe Collage; Adobe Debut presentation software; Adobe Ideas, which will be similar to the Illustrator vector-based desktop drawing software; Adobe Kuler color theme manager; and website- prototyping and wireframe tool Adobe Proto. Adobe said these remaining apps will launch for iOS later this year and will all work with Adobe’s Creative Cloud services.

Other functions in Adobe Touching for iPad include the ability to discuss to Myspace immediately from the app, search, using The search engines, from within the app, apply innovative picture effects, and even use your tablet’s built-in camera to complete associated with your picture venture.
“Photoshop Touching includes the miracle of Illustrator and its primary functions with the advantage of a product, providing image-editing power to the advantage of many individuals,” said Mark Wadhwani, Adobe’s Digital Press Business Device mature v. p. and General  Manager.

Adobe’s Photoshop Touch requires iOS 5 and will be available in the App Store on Monday, February 27. Although 9 to 5 Mac reported it was available now in New Zealand and Australia, the app has since been removed from the App Store, set to become available worldwide on Monday. The 9 to 5 Macsite also reported some of its readers saying the iPad 2 version “works better than the Android version.”

How to Re-size an Image

Resizing in Photoshop can help you print your images in standard photo sizes, resize and preserve the high
quality of digital photos, and enlarge small images to a poster size.

To resize your image to a preset size, follow the steps below:
1. In the main menu, go to File > New.
2. In the New dialog box, click on the Preset dropdown menu. You will see several preset sizes, such as
2x3, 4x6 and 5x7 with the preset resolution of 300 ppi.
3. Choose the size that you wish and click OK.

All the preset sizes are in portrait orientation. If you wish to resize an image with the landscape orientation,
you need to create your own preset. To create your own size, do the following:
1. Type in the values for Width and Height, for example 7x5.
2. Type in your desired resolution (150 ppi for high quality prints, and 72 ppi is good for web images).
3. Click the Save Preset button

Canon launch new 60Da DSLR for astrophotography

Canon managed to keep this a secret. This has been quietly announced on the Canon press release feed: the brand new EOS 60Da DSLR for astrophotography.

The Canon EOS 60Da camera packs a powerful 18-megapixel CMOS sensor (APS-C) that produces sharp and high-contrast images of astronomical objects, a major enhancement over the EOS 20Da model's 8.2-megapixel sensor. The improved infrared-blocking filter is a modification suited specifically toward astronomy enthusiasts to achieve a hydrogen-alpha light sensitivity that is approximately three times higher than that of a normal Canon DSLR camera. This produces a 20-percent higher transmittance of Hydrogen Alpha line, or H α wavelength, allowing astronomers to capture crisp, clear images of reddish, diffuse nebulae. 
Enhanced Features
Crisp images of the stars and planets can be viewed on the EOS 60Da's improved 3.0-inch Clear View LCD screen with 1,040,000 dots for detailed focusing. The flip-out Vari-angle screen allows photographers to adjust the screen for easy viewing without straining even while the camera is mounted to a telescope via a third-party T-ring adapter. Optimized for stargazing with friends or in an educational setting, astronomy enthusiasts can connect the camera to a TV with the provided AVC-DC400ST Stereo AV Video Cable and display the night sky on a TV monitor using the camera's Live View mode. How to create passport photo package by Photoshop

Maximum Photoshop software is using by photo studio owner and passport size photographs are very common at any studio. Here we are discussing about faster passport photo creation, you can make a specific package automatically.
If you want to create 9 pp at 4x6 sheet so you can perform this task with in few clicks
We will take width – 1.20 Inch. and Height – 1.70
Inch. And fix these at 4x6 sheet.
Follow these steps carefully --
  1. Open Photoshop and go to FILE menu
  2. Click on Automate option
  3. In Automate go to picture package option
  4. A new window will open Than click on Edit Layout button
  5. Fill a custom name Ex. “passport”
  6. Select Page size to Custom width 4 in & Height 6 in & unit inches
  7. Now click on Add Zone a new frame will appear in side box
  8. Click on this box & fill size in left side text field width 1.2 & height 1.7
  9. Now you can set this small frame as per your need
  10. According to us you should set this frame at top left corner
  11. Again click on Add Zone button to add a new frame it will also appear in side box
  12. Follow 8th step again & set this 2nd frame next to first frame
  13. Just like that we can set 3 frame at top row and 3 frame at 2nd row and 3 more frames at last row
  14. Now click on SAVE button and give a file name than it will save in default layout folder.

Speedup Photoshop for slow computer

Photoshop is a very heavy software but by some simple steps you can make it faster.

Go to EDIT option and select Preferences and from it`s sub menu select File Handling.
EDIT  > > Preferences > >  File Handling
After selection Preferences window will be open & in this window Set –
Image Previews : Never Save
Now click OK

For more optimization again go to EDIT option and select Preferences and select Plug-ins & Scratch Disk.
EDIT  > > Preferences > >  Plug-ins & Scratch Disk
In this Plug-ins & Scratch Disk window Set – Scratch Disk  
First         : Startup
Second     : D:\  (Any free space drive)
Third        :  E:\   (Any free space drive)
Fourth      :  (May be set to NONE)
Now click OK

One more step to speed up Photoshop.
EDIT  > > Preferences > >  Memory & Image Cache
Here your can increase Memory Uses Set
 Maximum Used bt Photoshop : up to 75%
(We recommended that don’t increase it more then 75 %)
Now click OK  and restart Photoshop for save these settings permanently.
